Happy New Year

I do not normally make New Year resolutions. It’s just not something that I do but for 2013 I am going to make a very serious attempt to blog at least on a bi-weekly basis, if not weekly. I am finishing some committees that I was involved in this past year or two and should have plenty of time to do some relevant writing.

Hello Dolly

hellodollyYes, that is a plugin that is included anytime that you do a WordPress installation. It is also a new podcast that is being done by the folks at 8bit and WPDaily. I ran across episode 0 while searching through iTunes. The first episode of the podcast was available on December 10th and I found it a few days later. The second episode was recently uploaded. Tom McFarlin (twitter – @TomMcFarlin), Chris Ames (twitter – @Dewde) , Jared Erickson (twitter – @Alliswell) and John Saddington (twitter – @Saddington)  have created a lively, informative and interesting podcast. I wish them luck in their new venture and look forward to upcoming episodes.

Jabra Cruiser2

Jabra_CRUISER_2_At_An_Angle_04_1440X810.ashxOne of my Christmas gifts this year was a Jabra Cruiser2 hands free speaker for my cell phone. I have heard good things about Jabra and in fact a couple of friends of mine have Jabra devices and like them. I went ahead and charged the device with the included car charger before I turned it on. When I went to sync with my iPhone, I turned on the Bluetooth and it only took a few seconds before the process was done. Pretty much idiot proof! It seems like more and more states are requiring hands free devices in vehicles. I travelled a fair amount this year and it seemed like more often than not I was in a hands free state. I figured it was just a matter of time before Ohio goes hands free. I have been able to use the Jabra several times over the past few days and I am very impressed. The sound from the speakers is very clear. The microphone is able to pick up my voice at my normal volume. The battery has not needed to be recharged in over a week, although the unit does an auto power off after a certain time, which is fine with me. For anybody thinking about a hands free device for your vehicle, I would recommend taking a look at the Jabra line of products.
